Highland Park

"Highland Park" is a series of episodic short films that tell the story of the east Los Angeles neighborhood. The narratives touch on each other as the lives of the characters intersect, in unexpected and sometimes mundane ways.

All five episodes were shot on micro-budgets and are designed to showcase both the strength of the characters and the performances of the actors playing them.

As filmmakers we try to stay out of the way and let our stories tell themselves. We hope to take our success on the festival circuit to the next level and raise funds to shoot one of our (15) full length episodes.

EPISODE 1: I'M A MAN

When Lucy gets out of a toxic relationship and sets herself up in new digs in Highland Park, she has to face the fact that you can't move without your baggage.

A cautionary love story about making the same mistakes and expecting different results.

EPISODE 2: EX-LION TAMER

Ellie goes about her day as a property manager. She shows Lucy an apartment, she deals with a tenant whose getting evicted, and she rescues a stray dog - all while eight months pregnant.

A story about someone who defies expectations without paying any attention whatsoever to what those expectations are.

EPISODE 3: WRONG 'EM BOYO

Ellie's sister, Max, welcomes Luis to her Cafe to work off a debt. A mutual respect develops as the two get to know each other's work ethic throughout the day.

A story about the pro's and con's of taking pride in what you do.

EPISODE 4: SAINT HUCK

Agnes deals with the work-a-day pressures of being a D-List celebrity from a cult TV show that went off the air a decade ago. She hopes a meeting with her agent might signal a new direction.

A story about ambition and confronting unwanted scrutiny.

EPISODE 5: HARLEM

Ellie and Max play hookie from their regularly scheduled lives to mark the anniversary of their mothers death.

A story about how people grieve in different ways.
